Description
In accordance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA), History Colorado has completed an inventory of human remains and associated funerary objects. The inventory identified 22 individuals and two lots of associated funerary objects from various counties in Colorado. A cultural affiliation has been determined between these remains and the Southern Ute Indian Tribe, Ute Indian Tribe of the Uintah & Ouray Reservation, and the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe. Repatriation of these remains and objects may occur on or after August 31, 2026, with requests for repatriation subject to specific criteria and procedures.
