The Department of Transportation's Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) is confirming the effective date for a Direct Final Rule published on April 24, 2026. This rule amends regulations at 49 CFR part 192 to incorporate by reference the updated industry standard ASTM A372/A372M, which is the Standard Specification for Carbon and Alloy Steel Forgings for Thin-Walled Pressure Vessels. The effective date of this rule is January 1, 2027. No adverse comments were received that warranted withdrawal of the rule.
