Description
The U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service, Mesa Verde National Park has completed an inventory of human remains and associated funerary objects in accordance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA). The inventory includes remains and objects removed from various locations including Mesa Verde National Park, Montezuma County, CO; Montezuma Valley, CO; near Blanding, UT; near Mancos, CO; Rock Canyon, CO; Cheese Box Canyon, UT; and possibly Canyon de Chelly, AZ. The notice identifies cultural affiliations between these remains and Indian Tribes or Native Hawaiian organizations. Repatriation of these remains and objects may occur on or after August 31, 2026.
