The U.S. Department of Energy, U.S. Department of War, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission announce the availability of Revision 2 of the Multi-Agency Radiation Survey and Site Investigation Manual (MARSSIM). This manual provides guidance on planning, conducting, evaluating, and documenting environmental radiological surveys of surface soils and building surfaces to demonstrate compliance with regulations. Revision 2 updates the science, clarifies methods, and incorporates lessons learned from over 25 years of use, replacing the previous version last updated in 2001. The manual is intended for use by federal agencies and other stakeholders involved in environmental radiological surveys.
