Description

The Bureau of Indian Education (BIE) announces public meetings of the Advisory Board for Exceptional Children to fulfill the mandates of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act of 2004 (IDEA) for Indian children with disabilities. Meetings will be held virtually on August 12-13, 2026, and both in-person and virtually on September 10-11, 2026, at the National Indian Training Center in Albuquerque, NM. The agenda includes updates from BIE offices, panel discussions, work sessions, and public comments. The meetings are open to the public and aim to advise the Secretary of the Interior on the needs of Indian children with disabilities.
