Description

The USAF Academy, 10th Contracting Squadron intends to award a single source purchase order, in accordance with RFO Subpart 13.101(b), Soliciting Competition, due to only one source being capable of supplying a musical instrument with a specific serial number.

The requirement is for the purchase of Fox Model 750 Professional Bassoon Serial Number: #75203 Fox Model 750 Professional Bassoon: - Hand-selected and aged Mountain Maple body, bordeaux finish, silver-plated keys, posts, bands, and boot cap.

- Features a specialized thick-wall bore design, long bell compact configuration, and a metal French-style bell ring.

- Full German key system includes 13 rollers (including pinky F# roller), right-hand Eb trill, right-thumb Ab-Bb trill, High E and E F# trill keys, Whisper-A bridge, and a right-hand thumb whisper key lock mechanism.

- Includes multiple adjustment screws for fine-tuning pitch and a balance hanger assembly.

- System includes two (2) professional Fox bocals (B2 and B3 lengths) and a Marcus Bonna XL-style professional case.

- Included accessory set: crutch (hand rest), neck strap, seat strap, cork grease, swabs, and polishing cloth.

The item being acquired is one professional model bassoon with custom features which will be equipped to last 20 years or more. It is comparable with civilian professional equipment and the price is comparable to other professional-tier bassoons.

This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes and no solicitation document exists for the requirement. Sources interested in responding to this notice are required to submit a capability statement that includes technical data, cost information and the earliest possible delivery date, in sufficient detail that clearly demonstrates the capability to meet all specifications of the requirement. All capability statements received by the due date of this notice will be considered by the Government.

A request for additional documentation, or submissions that only ask questions will not be considered as an affirmative response. A determination by the Government not to compete based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement or to proceed with a sole source procurement.
