GENERAL INFORMATION

Title: Purchase of BioComp Gradient Maker and Fractionator Background Information: A key focus of the UOB has been to translate our understanding of the biology of human genitourinary tumors into clinically viable therapeutic strategies. In recent years, numerous projects in our branch have focused on metabolic changes that occur during prostate cancer progression or result from genetic mutations in kidney cancer. Our efforts have been limited in recent years by our inability to isolate highquality subcellular samples which rely on sucrose gradient ultracentrifuge techniques. Purchase of the BioComp gradient maker and fractionator allow for the reproducible generation of continuous sucrose gradients and fractionation of relevant samples. This purchase is compatible with existing equipment of our neighboring branch (Pediatric Oncology Branch) and will be available for their use as well.
