Description

The chemical storage building must meet several specifications for construction, safety, and utility. The required minimum dimensions are 42 feet in length, 8 feet in width, and 8 feet 3 inches in height. Access shall be provided by a 60-inch by 80-inch set of double doors, with at least one 36-inch active leaf, centered on one of the 42-foot walls and secured with a padlock-compatible handle. For spill containment, the building must include a sump with a minimum capacity of 1200 gallons.The structure must feature a robust fire-rated design, with walls tested by Intertek for a minimum 4-hour rating and a roof tested for a minimum 3-hour rating. Electrical specifications include a 12-space, 100-amp NEMA 3R main breaker panel (120V/240V), two Class 1, Division 2 explosion-proof LED light fixtures with a switch for the interior, and a dust/vapor-resistant exterior light with a photocell installed outside the hazard zone. Ventilation will be handled by an explosion-proof exhaust system rated for 335 CFM or higher, suitable for petroleum-based storage and compliant with all NFPA/UFC codes, complete with an indicator light and an emergency shut-off switch.For safety and functionality, the building shall be equipped with a grounding kit including an 8-foot ground rod, 10 feet of cable, and a clamp.
