This opportunity relates to a regulatory update, not a procurement: - The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), Office of Critical Minerals and Energy Innovation, is extending the comment period for a proposed rulemaking. - The rulemaking concerns updates to procedures, interpretations, and policies for energy conservation standards and test procedures for consumer products and commercial/industrial equipment. - No products, services, OEMs, or vendors are requested or named. - The extension responds to a joint request from trade organizations for more time to analyze and comment. - The focus is on regulatory methodology, not acquisition of goods or services. - No line items, part numbers, or purchase quantities are associated with this notice.
Description
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) published a notice of proposed rulemaking (NOPR) proposing to update the Department's current rulemaking methodology for energy conservation standards and test procedures for consumer products and certain commercial/industrial equipment. The original comment period was set to close on August 6, 2026. Following a joint request from multiple trade organizations, DOE extended the public comment period by 15 days to August 21, 2026, to allow additional time for thorough analysis and consistent comments across related dockets.
