Description

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is proposing to approve the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy's (EGLE's) requests to redesignate the Berrien and Muskegon areas to attainment for the 2015 ozone National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS). The proposal includes approval of Michigan's plans for maintaining the 2015 ozone NAAQS through 2036 in these areas, approval of motor vehicle emissions budgets for 2032 and 2036, and approval of related SIP revisions including enhanced monitoring and control technology requirements. The Berrien area includes Berrien County, and the Muskegon area includes the western portion of Muskegon County. Comments on the proposal must be received by August 27, 2026.
