Description

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) has prepared a pest risk analysis evaluating the risks associated with the interstate movement of fresh turmeric rhizomes for consumption from Puerto Rico into the continental United States. The analysis determined that applying one or more designated phytosanitary measures will sufficiently mitigate the risks of introducing or spreading plant pests or noxious weeds through this movement. The pest risk analysis is made available for public review and comment until September 25, 2026. Following the comment period, a decision will be announced regarding the interstate movement status of fresh turmeric rhizomes from Puerto Rico.
