Description
The Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) is requesting public comments on the proposed extension of the information collection titled "Escape and Evacuation Plans." This collection is intended to ensure maximum safety for miners by requiring mine operators to develop, update, and maintain written escape and evacuation plans suitable to the conditions and mining system of underground metal and nonmetal mines. The plans must include mine maps, emergency notification procedures, escape plans for working areas, firefighting plans, surface emergency procedures, and statements on emergency communication and transportation facilities. Comments on this information collection are due by September 25, 2026.
