The USDA Agricultural Research Service (ARS) is seeking quotations for the supply and delivery of weaned piglets to the National Center for Animal Health (NCAH) in Ames, Iowa, for a scientific study on viral pathogenesis and immune response. - Government Buyer: - US Department of Agriculture (USDA) - Agricultural Research Service (ARS) - Acquisition and Property Division, Contracting Operations Branch - National Center for Animal Health (NCAH) - Products Requested: - 108 weaned piglets, divided into three groups: - 36 piglets weaned at 17-19 days of age - 36 piglets weaned at 22-24 days of age - 36 piglets weaned at 27-29 days of age - Piglets must be PRRSV antigen and antibody negative, preferably flu negative, uniform in size and health, same gender (female preferred), no cross-fostered piglets, and from litters farrowed within 3 days of each other - Litter identification required for each piglet - Additional Services: - 108 ear tagging services - 3 health papers - Transportation for 3 animals - Unique Requirements: - Piglets must not be raised for food - Strict health and age criteria for piglets - Delivery windows specified for each group within September - No OEMs or specific commercial vendors are named; opportunity is open to qualified small businesses under NAICS 112210 (Hog and Pig Farming)

Description

This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in RFO FAR Part 12. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation. Quotations are being requested and a separate written solicitation will not be issued. 

Solicitation number 1232SA26Q0839 is issued as a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for Weaned Piglets.

The solicitation document and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through the Revolutionary FAR Overhaul (RFO). This solicitation incorporates provisions and clauses by reference. The full text of provisions and clauses may be accessed electronically at www.acquisition.gov/far-overhaul.

This acquisition is a Total Small Business Set-Aside. The applicable North American Industry Classification Standard Code (NAICS) is 112210 - Hog and Pig Farming. The small business size standard is $4.0 Million. All responsible sources may submit a quotation which will be considered by the agency.

The Agriculture Priorities and Allocations System (APAS) and assigned rating are not applicable to this solicitation.

There are no additional requirement(s) or terms and conditions (such as financing arrangements or warranty requirements) determined to be necessary for this acquisition and consistent with customary commercial practices.

Quotes are due by the date/time/time zone listed in the “Date Offers Due” field.

Submit all quotes to the Primary Point of Contact and Secondary Point of Contact (if applicable) by the “Date Offers Due”.

Quotes received after the established “Date Offers Due” deadline will be considered late. Late quotes may only be considered if it is in the Government’s best interest and if it will not unduly delay award.

Questions regarding this solicitation shall be submitted in writing to the Primary Point of Contact and Secondary Point of Contact (if applicable) no later than 11:59 PM CT on Thursday, July 30, 2026 (07/30/2026). Answers will be posted by or before end of business on Friday, July 31, 2026 (7/31/2026).
