NASA Sole Source Procurement of Radiosondes and Ozone Interface Kits from Vaisala Inc.

NASA is seeking to procure radiosondes and ozone interface kits to support its SHADOZ ozonesonde measurement stations at Wallops Island, Natal (Brazil), and Hanoi (Vietnam). - The procurement includes: - 100 units of Radiosonde Model 1 - 120 units of Radiosonde Model 2 - 146 units of Ozone Interface Kit Model 1 - 55 units of Ozone Interface Kit Model 2 - All equipment must be compatible with existing SHADOZ records and ground data collection systems. - The intended sole source vendor is Vaisala Inc., identified as the only provider capable of supplying the required radiosondes and antenna preamplifier. - The procurement is managed by NASA Shared Services Center (NSSC) and Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC). - The contract is expected to cover approximately one year, with delivery by November 30, 2026. - The procurement is conducted under FAR Part 12 for commercial items, with NAICS code 334519. - Data collected from these instruments will be sent to NASA/GSFC in Greenbelt, MD.

Synopsis:

NASA/NSSC has a requirement for 90 radiosondes and antenna preamplifier for Natal and Hanoi. 

NASA/NSSC intends to issue a sole source contract to VAISALA INC: 194 S TAYLOR AVE | LOUISVILLE, COLORADO 80027 under the authority of FAR 12.102(a). It has been determined that VAISALA INC is the sole provider of 90 radiosondes and antenna preamplifier for Natal and Hanoi

NASA/NSSC will be the procuring center for this effort. Performance will be located at NASA/ Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC).

The Government intends to acquire Commercial items or services using the provisions, clauses and procedures prescribed in FAR Part 12 for Commercial

The NAICS Code for this procurement is 334519.

Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 3:00 p.m. Central Standard Time on 7/29/2026. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government.
