This project involves studying the views and opinions of sickle cell disease (SCD) community stakeholders regarding gene therapy and gene editing, including conducting focus groups and normative research. It aims to develop educational materials for SCD gene therapy and examine the use of genomic information in clinical care among minority and low-resource populations. The project also investigates the use of race and ethnicity as population descriptors in genomics research and studies public trust in healthcare and government organizations through the Institutional Medical Mistrust Scale.
