Description

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) is prohibiting directed fishing for Pacific ocean perch in the West Yakutat District of the Gulf of Alaska to prevent exceeding the 2026 total allowable catch (TAC) of 1,993 metric tons. The closure is effective from 1200 hours Alaska local time on July 22, 2026, through 2400 hours on December 31, 2026. This action is based on the determination that the TAC has been or will be reached, with a directed fishing allowance set at 1,923 metric tons and 70 metric tons set aside as incidental catch. The closure applies to U.S. vessels fishing under the Fishery Management Plan for Groundfish of the Gulf of Alaska.
