Description

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is proposing significant new use rules (SNURs) under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) for certain chemical substances that were the subject of premanufacture notices (PMNs) and are also subject to an Order issued by EPA pursuant to TSCA. These SNURs would require persons intending to manufacture or process these chemical substances for activities designated as significant new uses to notify EPA at least 90 days prior to commencing such activities. The notification initiates EPA's evaluation and no manufacture or processing for the significant new use may begin until EPA completes its review and makes a determination. The proposal includes detailed protective measures and recordkeeping requirements for various chemical substances.
