The Saskatchewan Ministry of Highways is preparing to procure a contractor for major culvert replacement and associated roadwork on Highway 49 between Pelly and Norquay. - Government Buyer: - Saskatchewan Ministry of Highways - Project Scope: - Supply and installation of two 2400 mm diameter polymer laminated corrugated steel pipe culverts (totaling 46 meters in length) - Ministry will supply the culverts and couplers (polymer laminated corrugated steel, 2400 mm diameter, 23 m long, 125 mm x 25 mm corrugations, 2.8 mm wall thickness, with gaskets) - Contractor responsible for: - Removal and disposal of 27 meters of existing culverts - Earth excavation (1,060 meters) - Supply and placement of 30 m³ topsoil - Earth embankment (640 m³) - Granular base course (340 tonnes) - Asphalt concrete (65 tonnes) - Random riprap Type II (150 m³) - Supply and installation of 100 meters silt fence - Supply and installation of 900 m² erosion control blanket - Granular backfill in place (750 m³) - Contractor must also supply borrow material, granular backfill, geotextiles, riprap, sub-base course, granular base course, asphalt concrete, and erosion control materials - All quantities are initial estimates and may change - No specific OEMs or vendors are named for the materials; culverts are Ministry-supplied - Work is expected to start as early as August and be completed by early October (approximate two-month duration)

Description

This procurement is for a contractor to supply and install two 2400 mm diameter polymer laminated corrugated steel pipe culverts by open excavation on Highway No. 49, 5.5 km west of its junction with Highway No. 8, for a total length of 46 meters. The work includes removal and disposal of existing culverts, earth excavation, supply and placement of topsoil, earth embankment, granular base course, asphalt concrete, riprap, silt fence, erosion control blanket, and granular backfill. The Ministry will supply the culverts and the contractor is responsible for supplying other materials such as borrow material, geotextiles, and asphalt concrete. The work is expected to start as early as August 2026 with a completion date as early as October 1, 2026.
