Description

NMFS proposes management measures under Framework Amendment 14 to the Fishery Management Plan for Coastal Migratory Pelagic Resources in the Gulf and Atlantic Region. The proposed rule would modify the annual catch limit (ACL) for the Gulf migratory group of Spanish mackerel based on the latest stock assessment. It also changes the accountability measure (AM) from an in-season closure to a post-season closure to ensure the ACL and AM are based on the best scientific information and to achieve optimum yield. Comments on the proposed rule are requested by August 21, 2026.
