Description
The University of Cincinnati has completed an inventory of human remains and associated funerary objects in accordance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA). The inventory includes remains of at least 22 individuals and 16 associated funerary objects recovered from three sites in Hamilton County, Ohio. The University has determined a cultural affiliation between these remains and associated objects and several Native American tribes including the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma, Shawnee Tribe, The Osage Nation, and the Wyandotte Nation. Repatriation of these remains and objects may occur on or after August 21, 2026, and requests for repatriation must be sent to the University of Cincinnati's Department of Anthropology.
