Description

The Milwaukee Public Museum intends to repatriate a cultural item defined as an unassociated funerary object with cultural affiliation to Indian Tribes or Native Hawaiian organizations. The item is a stone owl effigy pipe found on the east bank of Lake Winnebago, Wisconsin, associated with the Ho-Chunk Nation of Wisconsin and the Stockbridge Munsee Community. Repatriation may occur on or after August 21, 2026. Requests for repatriation must be sent to the authorized representative at the Milwaukee Public Museum.
