Description

The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh (UWO) has completed an inventory of human remains and associated funerary objects in accordance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA). The inventory includes remains and objects from multiple archaeological sites in Wisconsin, representing at least 41 individuals of Native American ancestry. The notice identifies a cultural affiliation between these remains and associated funerary objects and numerous Indian Tribes and Native Hawaiian organizations. Repatriation of these remains and objects may occur on or after August 21, 2026, and written requests for repatriation must be sent to the authorized representative at UWO.
