Description

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is issuing a direct final rule to remove obsolete regulatory provisions concerning infant bouncer seats and stationary activity centers. These provisions, originally promulgated in 1971, have been superseded by newer mandatory safety standards established in 2017 and 2019. The rule aims to eliminate duplication and improve regulatory clarity without reducing any mandatory safety standards. The obsolete rules being revoked are found in 16 CFR 1500.18(a)(6) and 1500.86(a)(4). The effective date of this rule is September 21, 2026, and comments are accepted until August 21, 2026.
