Description
The University of California, Berkeley intends to repatriate 69 cultural items that are objects of cultural patrimony with cultural affiliation to Indian Tribes or Native Hawaiian organizations. These items include baskets, a cradle, a bead belt, a bundle of fiber, a doll and basket cradle set, a meal brush, and other cultural belongings collected from various sources and locations in California. The repatriation is conducted in accordance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA). Repatriation may occur on or after August 21, 2026, and requests for repatriation must be submitted in writing to the authorized representative at the University of California, Berkeley.
