The William S. Webb Museum of Anthropology at the University of Kentucky has completed an inventory of human remains and associated funerary objects under the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA). The inventory identified remains representing at least 652 individuals and 559 associated funerary objects. These items have been culturally affiliated with several Indian Tribes including the Absentee-Shawnee Tribe of Indians of Oklahoma, Cherokee Nation, Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, Eastern Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma, Shawnee Tribe, and the United Keetoowah Band of Cherokee Indians in Oklahoma. Repatriation of these remains and objects may occur on or after August 21, 2026.
