The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), under the Department of Health and Human Services, is seeking specialized services to support evaluation of blood flow in medical devices: - Government Buyer: - U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), DHHS/FDA/OAGS/DAO, Contracting Officer: Ian Weiss - Scope of Work: - Fabrication of three optically transparent micronozzle flow models: - Two 22-Gauge models (410 micrometer outlet) - One for particle velocimetry and cavitation assessment - One for pressure measurements with 10-14 pressure taps - One 25-Gauge model (250 micrometer outlet) for particle velocimetry and cavitation assessment - Development and operation of flow systems for both steady and transient flow conditions - High-resolution 2D and 3D particle velocimetry and pressure measurements to characterize fluid dynamics - Delivery of detailed reports, raw and processed data, and possibly physical models - Notable Requirements: - Models must be fabricated to precise FDA-specified dimensions - Flow systems must accommodate both steady and transient conditions - All work supports FDA's evaluation of blood flow through medical devices - No specific OEMs or commercial vendors are named in the solicitation - The opportunity is a 100% small business set-aside under NAICS 541715

Description

The fabrication of optically transparent flow models and the performance of particle velocimetry and pressure measurements to characterize fluid dynamics in micronozzle model geometries. The work will support FDA's evaluation of blood flow characteristics through medical devices by utilizing surrogate flow models consisting of 22-Gauge and 25-Gauge micronozzle tips and extensions.
