Mine Adit Closure with HDPE Culvert and Road Restoration for USDA Forest Service

The USDA Forest Service, Idaho Panhandle National Forest (IPNF), is seeking a contractor to close the hazardous 4th of July Mine adit #1 in Shoshone County, ID. - Government Buyer: - USDA Forest Service, Idaho Panhandle National Forest, Stewardship Contracting Branch - Project Scope: - Closure of an open and hazardous mine adit using a 10.5 x 2.8 ft HDPE culvert with a fixed horizontal grate (HDPE pipe provided by the Forest Service) - Backfilling with approximately 150-200 cubic yards of rock - Clearing, improving, and later obliterating a 750 ft access road to the site - Contractor to provide all equipment, labor, and materials (except the HDPE pipe and grate) - Deliverables include a secured mine adit and a final report with photos - Products/Services Requested: - Installation of government-furnished HDPE culvert and grate (part number 7540-01-152-8067) - Road clearing, grubbing, and recontouring - Backfilling and compaction of rock material - Documentation and reporting of completed work - Unique Requirements: - Forest Service supplies the HDPE pipe and grate; contractor supplies all other materials and services - Work must address extremely hazardous and unstable site conditions - Temporary access road must be restored to natural conditions after project completion - Payment and performance bonds required

Description

The IPNF intends to have an open mine adit closed by backfilling/culvert installation at a mine located on the St Joe Ranger District, of the IPNF.  This mine presents a hazard to public health & safety as well as to wildlife and this adit closure is in the interest of the public. The adit needs to be closed with a combination grated pvc pipe/backfill type closure due to extremely unstable and hazardous conditions.
