The City of Norfolk's Public Works (Design & Construction) department is seeking bids to upgrade vehicle detection systems at ten signalized intersections in Norfolk, Virginia. - Project scope: - Replace outdated video and/or inductive loop stop bar detection systems with modern, multi-functional vehicle detection devices - New systems must support presence detection, advanced detection, and traffic monitoring - Equipment and materials required: - 10 video detection systems - 4,410 feet of video detection cable - 16 single video detection cameras - 8 360-degree video detection cameras - 882 feet of 2” HDPE conduit (Schedule 80, directionally drilled) - Modifications to 10 existing traffic signal cabinets and 10 junction boxes - Services required: - Project mobilization - Maintenance of traffic during installation - Key requirements: - Bidders must be pre-qualified with the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) - Compliance with Virginia contractor licensing laws is mandatory - No specific OEMs or vendors are named in the solicitation - Project completion required within 240 calendar days
