The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is proposing to approve revisions to the Missouri State Implementation Plan (SIP) related to control of nitrogen oxide (NOX) emissions from large stationary internal combustion engines. The revisions include reformatted and revised reporting, recordkeeping, and compliance requirements, incorporation of other state rules by reference, addition of definitions specific to the rule, and an exemption for certain spark-ignited internal combustion engines emitting 25 tons or less of NOX during the ozone season. The EPA finds that these revisions will not interfere with attainment or maintenance of the ozone National Ambient Air Quality Standard (NAAQS). Comments on the proposed rule must be received by August 14, 2026.
