Description
The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) intends to request a revision to and extension of approval of an information collection associated with the Horse Protection Program and enforcement of the Horse Protection Act. The Horse Protection Act aims to prevent the showing, exhibiting, selling, or auctioning of sore horses and regulates transportation of sore horses at horse shows, exhibitions, sales, and auctions. The information collection supports certification of licensing programs for Designated Qualified Persons (DQPs), responsibilities of management, and prohibitions related to transportation of certain horses. APHIS works with Horse Industry Organizations (HIOs) to oversee compliance and enforcement of the Act.
