Description

The Contractor shall furnish the necessary personnel, supplies, materials, and incidentals necessary to provide 2027 Soil Climate Analysis Network (SCAN) maintenance services for the NRCS-National Water and Climate Center (NWCC) as described below and in accordance with the work statement attached to and hereby made a part of this solicitation.

The Soil Climate Analysis Network (SCAN) began as a soil moisture/soil temperature pilot project of the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in 1991 to provide data in support of natural resource assessments and conservation activities. SCAN operates a comprehensive, nationwide soil moisture and climate information network, focused on agricultural areas, with over 200 stations providing data in near real-time.

SCAN stations collect hourly information on soil moisture content and soil temperature at standard depths (2, 4, 8, 20, and 40 inches), air temperature, relative humidity, solar radiation, wind speed/direction, and liquid precipitation.
