Description
In accordance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA), the Placer County Museums Division intends to repatriate a cultural item defined as an object of cultural patrimony. This item has a cultural affiliation with the Southern Maidu (Nisenan) and originated within their aboriginal territory in Placer County, California. The item is a set of stringed beads that may have been used as burial beads, acquired by donation in 1948. Repatriation may occur on or after August 14, 2026, and requests for repatriation must be sent to the Placer County Museums Division.
