This notice concerns the intended repatriation of Native American cultural items by Franklin Pierce University, coordinated with the National Park Service: - Government Buyer: - Department of the Interior, National Park Service - Franklin Pierce University (Rindge, NH) is the responsible institution - Items for Repatriation: - 19 unassociated funerary objects - Includes unknown grave items and lithics (originating from Arkansas) - Affiliated Tribes/Organizations: - The Osage Nation - Other Indian Tribes or Native Hawaiian organizations may be eligible - Process and Requirements: - Written requests for repatriation are invited from lineal descendants or culturally affiliated organizations - In the event of competing requests, the most appropriate requestor will be determined - No commercial products, OEMs, or vendors are involved, as the items are cultural artifacts - The process is governed by the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA)

Description

In accordance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA), Franklin Pierce University intends to repatriate certain cultural items defined as unassociated funerary objects. These items have a cultural affiliation with Indian Tribes or Native Hawaiian organizations. The notice details the repatriation process and invites written requests for repatriation from lineal descendants or culturally affiliated organizations. Repatriation may occur on or after August 14, 2026.
