Description
The University of Michigan has completed an inventory of human remains in accordance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA). The inventory identified ancestral remains representing at least one individual, removed from near Shishmaref, Alaska. The University has determined a cultural affiliation between these remains and the Native Village of Shishmaref. Repatriation of the ancestral remains may occur on or after August 14, 2026, and requests for repatriation must be sent to the University of Michigan's NAGPRA Office.
