Description
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has designated new methods for measuring various air pollutants including one new reference method for carbon monoxide (CO) and three new equivalent methods for particulate matter (PM) of different sizes (PM2.5, PM10, and PM10-2.5) in ambient air. These methods are automated and utilize technologies such as gas filter correlation and optical mass spectroscopy. The designations allow these methods to be used by states and other air monitoring agencies for compliance with National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS). The notice includes details about the specific instruments and their operational parameters.
