Description
Indiana University has completed an inventory of human remains and associated funerary objects in accordance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA). The inventory includes remains of at least 31 individuals and associated funerary objects recovered from the Major Site near the Ohio River. The university has determined a cultural affiliation between these remains and several Indian Tribes or Native Hawaiian organizations. Repatriation of these remains and objects may occur on or after August 14, 2026, with requests for repatriation to be sent to the designated university representative.
