Description
San Diego State University (SDSU) intends to repatriate certain cultural items that meet the definition of unassociated funerary objects, sacred objects, and/or objects of cultural patrimony. These items have a cultural affiliation with various Indian Tribes or Native Hawaiian organizations. The repatriation involves multiple lots of cultural items, including lithics, ground stone, non-human faunal items, post-contact items, shell, ceramics, soil samples, charcoal, fire-affected rock, and historic items. The items were removed from various sites in San Diego County, CA, and SDSU holds accession numbers for these collections. Repatriation may occur on or after August 14, 2026.
