Description

The Fiscal Year 2026 Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA) Swift Current program provides federal funds to states, U.S. territories, federally recognized Indian/Native American Tribal Governments, and local governments to reduce or eliminate the risk of repetitive flood damage to buildings and structures insured under the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) within NFIP-participating communities. The program aims to better align flood mitigation funding with the disaster survivor experience and funds various flood mitigation activities designed to reduce flood risk to NFIP policyholders. Eligible applicants must have a major disaster or emergency declaration for a flood-related event between June 1, 2025, and May 31, 2027, and meet specific NFIP claims criteria. The total funding available is $600,000,000 with expected awards varying in amount.
