NASA Marshall Space Flight Center is seeking to procure advanced broadband seismic stations for use in Coastal Resiliency and Planetary Rocket Launch projects. - Government Buyer: - NASA, Marshall Space Flight Center - OEM Highlight: - Guralp Systems Limited (sole source provider of required seismic sensor equipment) - Products/Services Requested: - At least 2 high-quality broadband seismic stations - Must include seismic sensors and 32-bit digitizer/recorders - Ruggedized, sealed, non-corrosive housings for direct burial or surface deployment in coastal environments - Key technical specs: - Broadband frequency sensitivity: 120s to 100Hz - Detect ground vibrations at nanometer to micrometer scale - Operational tilt range: +/- 50 degrees - 24-bit digitizer - Dual hot-swappable SD cards (minimum 64GB each) - miniSEED data format - Integrated sensors (orientation, temperature, atmospheric pressure, humidity, input voltage) - Compatible with Linux, MacOS, or Windows via ethernet or USB - Dimensions: <250 mm diameter; Weight: <5 kg - Operational temperature: -15C to +50C - Environmental protection: IP68 or IP69 - 12 V DC nominal input; Power consumption: 3W or less - Includes sealed GNSS receiver and proprietary cabling - Unique/Notable Requirements: - Equipment must be suitable for harsh coastal environments and capable of high-precision ground vibration detection - Sole source justification for Guralp Systems Limited as the only provider meeting these specifications - Delivery expected prior to end of August 2026, with possible extension to end of October 2026

Synopsis:

NASA/NSSC has a requirement for Guralp seismic sensor equipment. 

NASA/NSSC intends to issue a sole source contract to GURALP SYSTEMS LIMITED, 3 Midas HOUSE, Calleva PARK, Aldermaston Reading RG7 8EA United Kingdom, under the authority of FAR 12.102(a). It has been determined that GURALP SYSTEMS LIMITED is the sole provider of Guralp seismic sensor equipment

NASA/NSSC will be the procuring center for this effort. Performance will be located at NASA/ Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC).

The Government intends to acquire Commercial items or services using the provisions, clauses and procedures prescribed in FAR Part 12 for Commercial

Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 9:00 a.m. Central Standard Time on 7/17/2026. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government.
