The Alabama Supercomputer Authority (ASA) is seeking proposals from qualified network service providers to deliver high-speed, dedicated connectivity services for the Alabama Research and Education Network (AREN). - Government Buyer: Alabama Supercomputer Authority (ASA) - Services Requested: - Member Hub Transport Service: End-to-end, dedicated, symmetrical Ethernet, DWDM Waves, or Dark Fiber P2P connectivity between Member Hubs and the ASA network - Member Hub Failover Transport Service: Redundant, diverse, and independent connectivity for failover, using the same technologies as primary transport - Wide Area Network (WAN) Transport Service: Dedicated, symmetrical connectivity from Member WAN Sites to Member Hubs or AREN Service Platform Nodes, supporting hub-and-spoke or point-to-point topologies - Technical Requirements: - Bandwidth options from 100 Mbps up to 102,400 Mbps - Strict performance SLAs: 99.95% availability and less than 30ms round-trip latency - Installation and provisioning for up to 625 eligible entities - All services must be E-Rate compliant and include detailed cost proposal workbooks - Services must be installed and tested at least 60 days before contract start - No specific OEMs are named; the RFP is open to all qualified network service providers capable of delivering Ethernet, DWDM, or Dark Fiber solutions - Multiple awards are anticipated, and proposals must address all technical and compliance requirements
Description
The Alabama Supercomputer Authority (ASA) is soliciting proposals through a Request for Proposal (RFP) to provide Internet Access and associated network services to public K12, charter schools, community colleges, universities, public libraries, and commercial entities in Alabama. The services requested include Category 1 Data Transmission and/or Internet Access with standalone data transmission service ranging from 100 Mbps to 102,400 Mbps. ASA intends to select multiple contractors that can meet or exceed the specified service levels and comply with applicable laws. Proposals must be submitted by August 10, 2026, and all offerors must be registered suppliers in Alabama Buys. The RFP includes detailed requirements and a pre-proposal conference is scheduled for July 14, 2026.
