Statement of Work (SOW) -Fabrication and delivery of Exhaust Expansion Joints
1.0 Purpose The purpose of this requirement is to procure the replacement exhaust expansion joint assemblies for the USCGC POLAR STAR Main Propulsion Generator exhaust system. This requirement is for fabrication and shipping only.
2.0 Scope The contractor must furnish all labor, supervision, materials, equipment, tools, and incidentals necessary to fabricate and test the expansion joint assemblies identified in this SOW and in the referenced materials.
3.0 Required Quantities The contractor must fabricate, test and deliver the following:
Quantity 2 - 22-inch expansion joints

5.0 Operating Conditions
Normal Operating Temp: 900° F System Design Temp: 1200° F
6.0 General Requirements The Contractor must fabricate the required flex assemblies in strict accordance with the applicable Government-furnished drawings and standards referenced. Any deviation must get written Government approval.
The Contractor must provide new materials only.
The Contractor must fabricate the assemblies in accordance with applicable Expansion Joint Manufacturers Association standards.
The Contractors’ quality control must conform to ASTM F1120. Bellows pressure welds shall undergo Liquid Penetrant (PT) Examination. Per the manufacturer's option allowed in ASTM F1120, a Pneumatic Leak Test may be substituted in lieu of the hydrostatic test to protect the dry internal insulation pack.
The Contractor must install a permanent metallic data plate, and a permanent directional flow arrow must be visible on the outside of the expansion joint per ASTM F1120 requirements.
The Contractor must install shipping bars to lock the assembly rigidly at the 20" face-to-face dimension during transport. Bars shall be painted a highly visible color (e.g., safety yellow) and clearly marked for their removal after installation is complete.
7.0 Technical Requirements for 22-Inch Expansion Joint For the two 22-inch assemblies, the contractor must fabricate the assemblies in accordance with the referenced drawing package and referenced standards.
8.0 Packaging and Preservation The contractor shall package each fabricated assembly to prevent damage, distortion, contamination, and corrosion during handling and shipment per ASTM F1120.
9.0 Deliverables The contractor shall deliver the following:
Quantity 2 of 22-inch multi-ply flex assemblies with liner Certificate of Conformance for each item
