Description
The Coast Guard will enforce a safety zone on the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal, including the Des Plaines River, Chicago River, and Calumet-Saganashkee Channel from Mile Marker 295.5 to Mile Marker 297.5. This enforcement is for Permanent Barrier 1 In-Water Testing to ensure safety during electric fish barrier testing. The enforcement periods are from July 13, 2026, through July 17, 2026, and July 27, 2026, through July 31, 2026, daily from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Entry, transiting, or anchoring within the safety zone is prohibited unless authorized by the Captain of the Port Lake Michigan or designated representatives.
