Notice of Inventory Completion for Native American Human Remains at History Colorado

This notice concerns the completion of an inventory of Native American human remains by History Colorado, in partnership with the National Park Service (Department of the Interior): - Government buyer: - National Park Service (Department of the Interior) - History Colorado (Denver, CO) - No OEMs, vendors, or commercial products/services are involved - Subject of notice: - Inventory of human remains representing at least 11 Native American individuals - Remains transferred from multiple county coroners in Colorado - No associated funerary objects present - No hazardous substances used in preservation - Cultural affiliation: - Southern Ute Indian Tribe of the Southern Ute Reservation (Colorado) - Ute Indian Tribe of the Uintah & Ouray Reservation (Utah) - Ute Mountain Ute Tribe - Notable requirements: - Notice outlines process for repatriation requests from affiliated tribes, Native Hawaiian organizations, or lineal descendants - No procurement of products or services is taking place

Description

In accordance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA), History Colorado has completed an inventory of human remains and determined a cultural affiliation between the remains and Indian Tribes or Native Hawaiian organizations. The inventory includes human remains representing at least 11 individuals likely Native American and archaeological in age, originating from locations within present-day Colorado. Repatriation of the human remains may occur on or after August 10, 2026. Requests for repatriation must be sent to the authorized representative at History Colorado.
