The Town of Fuquay-Varina, NC is seeking bids for the construction of a 1.0 million gallon (MG) elevated composite water storage tank and related infrastructure to support the Upper Pressure Zone Development. - Government Buyer: - Town of Fuquay-Varina, Public Utilities Department - Primary OEMs and Manufacturers: - Tank manufacturers: McDermott International, Caldwell Tanks, Phoenix Fabricators, Landmark Tank Structures - Protective coatings: Sherwin-Williams, Tnemec, Carboline, PPG - Utility provider: Duke Energy (for permanent power) - Products and Services Requested: - 1.0 MG composite elevated water storage tank (welded steel tank, concrete support structure, stainless steel piping, ladders, hatches, and accessories) - Water line connections (including 12-inch and 10-inch ductile iron and stainless steel piping, valves, tapping sleeves, reducers, and thrust blocking) - Four pressure reducing valve (PRV) vaults (valves installed at PRV 3 and PRV 4) - Protective coatings for tank interior and exterior (specified OEMs) - Tank accessories: overflow and drain piping, venting, lightning protection, antenna mounts - Concrete support structure (reinforced, architectural finish) - Temporary controls/utilities during construction - SCADA system allowance ($450,000) - Permanent power coordination and infrastructure (Duke Energy, $50,000 allowance) - Quality control testing allowance ($50,000) - Owner's discretionary allowance (5% of bid price) - Unique or Notable Requirements: - Only specified tank and coating OEMs are acceptable - Contractor must coordinate with Duke Energy for electrical service and provide certain infrastructure - Contractor licensing must be Public Utilities or Building classification - Strict quality control, inspection, and testing requirements - Allowances for SCADA, power, and owner discretion included in contract - Liquidated damages for late completion ($1,500/day)
