This notice concerns the intended repatriation of cultural items by Antelope Valley College in partnership with the Department of the Interior and the National Park Service. - Government buyer: - Antelope Valley College (Lancaster, CA) - Coordinating with Department of the Interior and National Park Service - No OEMs or commercial vendors are involved; this is not a procurement of goods or services - Items for repatriation: - 383 objects of cultural patrimony from Burnt Peak Pictograph (CALAN484/AVC2) site - Includes faunal bone, organic material, shell material (15 lots), flaked stone (346 lots), ground stone (20 lots) - 43 unassociated funerary objects from Green Valley Cemetery (CALAN487/AVC6) site - Includes ground stone bowl, shell beads and ornaments, flaked stone - Items are affiliated with the Yuhaaviatam of San Manuel Nation and other Native American groups - Objects date to the Late Prehistoric Period (post-A.D. 900, pre-European contact) - No hazardous substances are known to have been used on these items - Repatriation is conducted under the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA) - No procurement, solicitation, or award of goods or services is associated with this notice

Description

Antelope Valley College (AVC) intends to repatriate 426 cultural items, including 383 objects of cultural patrimony from the Burnt Peak Pictograph site and 43 unassociated funerary objects from the Green Valley Cemetery site. These items have cultural affiliation with the Yuhaaviatam of San Manuel Nation and other Native American groups. The repatriation is in accordance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA) and may occur on or after August 7, 2026. The items date to the Late Prehistoric Period, post-A.D. 900, but before European contact, and no hazardous substances are known to have been used on them.
