The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is seeking public comment on a proposed update to airworthiness directives for Rolls-Royce Deutschland BR700-715 series engines. - Government Buyer: - Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Department of Transportation - OEM Highlight: - Rolls-Royce Deutschland Ltd & Co KG is the sole OEM referenced - Products/Engines Affected: - BR700-715A1-30 (part number: BR700715A130) - BR700-715B1-30 (part number: BR700715B130) - BR700-715C1-30 (part number: BR700715C130) - Requirement Details: - Operators must revise the airworthiness limitations section (ALS) of their approved engine maintenance or inspection programs - Incorporate new or more restrictive tasks, limitations, thresholds, and intervals for life-limited parts - Changes are based on the latest Rolls-Royce engine time limits manual (TLM) and EASA AD 20250086 - Addresses the risk of uncontained failure of critical rotating parts, specifically the low-pressure compressor (fan) disc assembly - Notable Aspects: - No specific part numbers or purchase quantities are being procured; this is a regulatory compliance action - Applies to all affected Rolls-Royce BR700-715 series engines in service - Compliance is required within 30 days after the effective date of the new directive and is ongoing as part of regular maintenance
Description
The FAA proposes to supersede Airworthiness Directive (AD) 2009-04-13 for certain Rolls-Royce Deutschland Ltd & Co KG Model BR700-715A1-30, BR700-715B1-30, and BR700-715C1-30 engines. The proposed AD requires revising the airworthiness limitations section (ALS) of the existing approved engine maintenance or inspection program to incorporate new or more restrictive tasks and limitations and associated thresholds and intervals for life-limited parts. This action addresses an unsafe condition that could result in uncontained failure of critical rotating parts, potentially leading to engine failure and damage to the airplane. Comments on this proposal must be received by August 20, 2026.
