Description

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) intends to issue a temporary order to place three 7-hydroxymitragynine-related substances (mitragynine pseudoindoxyl, MGM-15, and MGM-16) in Schedule I of the Controlled Substances Act. This temporary scheduling will impose regulatory controls and sanctions applicable to Schedule I substances on persons who handle these substances, including manufacturing, distributing, importing, exporting, researching, or possessing them. The action is necessary to avoid an imminent hazard to public safety due to the substances' high opioid potency and abuse potential. The temporary scheduling order will take effect on or after August 5, 2026.
