Description
This project focuses on research to understand the causes of bone fragility in veterans with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and to develop approaches to minimize fracture risk. The research aims to improve health outcomes by studying bone loss and fracture risk, which are elevated in the veteran population with CKD. The work includes investigating reversal of cortical porosity and using microRNA as biomarkers for skeletal disease differentiation. The goal is to develop clinical regimens to reduce skeletal burden and improve quality of life for veterans with CKD.
