The City of Norwalk is seeking qualified contractors for the Carmenita Road Rehabilitation Project, a major infrastructure upgrade covering the segment from 550 feet north of Excelsior Drive to Rosecrans Avenue. - Government Buyer: - City of Norwalk Engineering Department - Project Scope: - Rehabilitation of existing asphalt pavement - Construction of concrete sidewalks, curbs and gutters, cross gutters, driveways, curb access ramps, retaining curbs, retaining walls - Installation of signage, striping, and related appurtenant work - Key Materials and Products: - Asphalt concrete (Class B-PG 64-10 base, Class C2-PG 64-10 surface) - Portland cement concrete (PCC) for sidewalks, driveways, ramps, cross gutters, medians, spandrels, and pavement - CMU retaining walls - Asphalt Rubber and Aggregate Membrane (ARAM) interlayer - Traffic control and signage components - Inductive loop detectors for traffic signals - Utility adjustments (manholes, valve boxes, meter boxes, pedestals) - Landscaping and irrigation modifications, including planting new 15-gallon trees - Notable Requirements: - Compliance with federal Buy America, Build America (BABA) provisions - Prevailing wage laws - Disadvantaged Business Enterprise participation - Equal Employment Opportunity - Strict project schedule: 100 working days, no weekend/holiday/rush hour work, liquidated damages for delays - No specific OEMs or vendors are named; opportunity is open to qualified contractors able to supply and install the required materials and components.

Description

The project involves rehabilitation of existing asphalt pavement on Carmenita Road from 550 feet north of Excelsior Drive to Rosecrans Avenue. It includes furnishing all necessary labor, materials, equipment, and other incidental work to complete the project as described in the contract documents. The work also includes construction of concrete sidewalks, curb and gutter, cross gutters, driveways, curb access ramps, retaining curbs, retaining walls, signing, striping, and appurtenant work. The project will be performed in strict conformance with contract documents, permits, and applicable regulations. The estimated cost of the work is approximately $2,700,000 and is partially funded by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA).
