The Town of Needham Department of Public Works is seeking bids for the installation and site work of new playground equipment at Eliot Playground, Eliot School. - Government Buyer: - Town of Needham, Department of Public Works, Public Services Administration Building - OEMs and Vendors: - Playground equipment components manufactured by Landscape Structures - Equipment supplied by O'Brien & Sons Inc. - Products/Services Requested: - Installation of free-standing play structures for ages 2-5 (2 units) and 5-12 (1 unit) - Installation of swings, spinners, and various playground equipment components - Poured-in-place two-layer rubber-urethane playground surfacing system - Chain-link fencing (6 gauge, black PVC coated) - Concrete materials and structural foundations - Erosion control materials (straw wattle, silt fence, etc.) - Gravel, sand, stone, and other fill materials for subbase and backfill - HDPE pipe and fittings for storm drainage - Precast concrete manholes and catch basins - Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) pavement for sidewalks and courts - Court surfacing and painting (acrylic surfacing and line markings) - Flexible porous paving for tree pit areas - Complete irrigation system (pump, control panel, sprinklers, valves, controllers, wiring) - Playground equipment components (climbers, swings, slides, picnic tables) with specified materials and finishes - Unique/Notable Requirements: - All playground equipment must meet ASTM, ADA, and IPEMA standards - Contractor must respond to emergency calls within 2 hours and complete scheduled work within 2 weeks - Two-year warranty on labor and workmanship for installation - 5% bid deposit, 50% payment bond, and 100% performance bond if required - Registration for addenda notifications and compliance with Massachusetts public construction laws

Description

The Town of Needham is soliciting sealed bids for the installation of playground equipment at Eliot Playground. The Invitation for Bid package is available from July 2, 2026, at the Public Works Department office or online. A pre-bid meeting is scheduled for July 9, 2026, at the Eliot School, and sealed bids must be submitted by 11:00 AM on July 22, 2026. The Town reserves the right to reject any or all bids and waive minor informalities.
